Yorkville EL24S brings a 24-inch driver to the Elite powered-subwoofer line
Yorkville Sound has introduced the EL24S, a powered live-sound subwoofer built around a 24-inch neodymium driver and 6-inch voice coil. Rated at 5,000 watts peak with a claimed 143 dB peak output, it extends the Elite range for venues and production systems that need unusually deep low-frequency reinforcement.
Yorkville Sound has added the EL24S to its Elite series, giving live-sound users a powered subwoofer built around an unusually large 24-inch neodymium driver. The company positions the new model above its 18- and 21-inch Elite subs for applications where maximum low-frequency extension and output matter more than compact dimensions. Yorkville lists a 6-inch voice coil and a frequency response of 30 Hz to 100 Hz, measured within plus or minus 3 dB.
The onboard amplifier is rated at 5,000 watts peak and 2,500 watts program. Yorkville claims a maximum output of 143 dB peak and 137 dB continuous, figures that place the EL24S squarely in large-format sound reinforcement rather than portable rehearsal or small-event territory. An onboard limiter is included to manage the system at high operating levels.
Connection options include two combination XLR and quarter-inch TRS inputs, two full-range XLR link outputs, and two high-pass XLR outputs for feeding the rest of a system. Power is handled through powerCON TRUE1-compatible input and output connectors. The cabinet is made from 15 mm birch plywood with a powder-coated steel grille, and pole-mount adapters are fitted on both the top and side to support different deployment layouts.
This is substantial hardware. Yorkville specifies a weight of 240 pounds, or 109 kilograms, and equips the enclosure with two rigid and two swivel casters plus handles on several sides. The EL24S is manufactured at Yorkville's Canadian factory. Yorkville has published the complete product page and specifications, but broad dealer inventory and street pricing were not confirmed when this article was prepared.
